Crypto Wallets Unite Against Phishing Threats with $400M at Stake
SEAL, in collaboration with MetaMask, WalletConnect, Backpack, and Phantom, has launched a global real-time phishing defense network. This initiative aims to create a decentralized immune system for cryptocurrency security, enabling worldwide participation in preventing major phishing attacks.
Phishing remains the predominant method of cryptocurrency theft this year, with attackers employing increasingly sophisticated tactics. SEAL's new verifiable phishing report technology allows researchers, users, and wallet providers to submit verified reports, triggering instant alerts across participating platforms.
MetaMask emphasized the collective effort, stating the network's goal to protect users ecosystem-wide. SEAL's system operates without administrative privileges, relying on trusted users to broadcast alerts in real-time—speed being critical to minimizing losses.
The consortium warns that crypto-drainers continue to evolve, developing new concealment methods. This joint venture represents a proactive countermeasure in the ongoing battle against digital asset security threats.
